1. The Oriental Pearl Tower (东方明珠 – Dōngfāngmíngzhū)

The first place, the most famous one and also the icon of this city. It’s The Oriental Pearl Tower. In Chinese we call it 东方明珠 (Dōngfāngmíngzhū). It is located in Pudong New Area. If you go to Shanghai, don’t miss to visit this place. I bet you can’t resist the pearl’s light. But don’t forget to pay the ticket because there is an Municipal History Museum and sightseeing point from 1,152 ft inside the tower. Spending time outside the tower is also a good choice. There are a lot of skyscrapers and restaurants nearby. You can also walk beside the Huangpu River just behind the tower. Take metro line 2 and get off at Lujiazui Station. Get out from Exit 1 and you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower.
2. The Bund (外滩 – Wàitān)
The 2 of 3 best places around Lujiazui is The Bund. It’s just across The Oriental Pearl Tower. From here you can see the Pudong New Area’s river side. There is also Monument to The People’s Heroes (人民英雄纪念塔: Rénmín Yīngxióng Jìniàn Tǎ), sculptures on the bund, and colonial era buildings in western architectural style. You can reach this place by taking a Bun Sightseeing Tunnel from the Pearl Tower. It only takes 3-5 minutes to cross the river with the colorful light around the tunel. Once again, don’t forget to pay the ticket. If you prefer to take the metro, take line 2 or 10 to East Nanjing Road Station. Then walk along East Nanjing Road for about 10 minutes.
3. Lujiazui Green Area (陆家嘴中心绿地 – Lùjiāzuǐ Zhōngxīn Lǜdì)
It’s just a small green area in a crowded city. Not so small but not so big. But from here you can enjoy the scenery of skyscrapers around the Lujiazui area in different perspective. You can see World Financial Center, Jinmao Tower, Shanghai Tower – China’s tallest building. There is also a lake inside the park, jogging track, picnic site, and a site that tell the history of the park. Though it is located in the middle of city, this place is so calm and family-friendly, that’s why this park is also worth to visit. To reach this place, you just need to walk for about 10 minutes to east from the Pearl Tower.
