NEW ZEALAND INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

New Zealand is the top of mind of a country for expats in searching for a great work opportunitis, work life balance, and high quality of life. There are 2 cities that are popular for internships, which is Auckland and Wellington.

Auckland - New Zealand’s most populous urban area in the country which hosts 32% of New Zealand’s whole population. Known as the "City of Sails," Auckland's Hauraki Gulf is filled with sailboats on nice days in the summer. The entire city lives within half an hour of beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and enchanting islands, and is also famous for its outstanding food and unique Polynesian culture.

The fact that the city was ranked 3rd on the world’s list for the Mercer Quality of Living Survey in 2014, 8th on the Economist Intelligence Unit’s ‘World’s Most Livable Cities’ (2016), as well as the central business district being the major financial center of New Zealand, just demonstrates the diversity of the city and the endless opportunities for work and play. New Zealand’s “City of Sails” is the perfect place to sail into a career-defining internship.

Wellington - With 418.500 residents, Wellington is the second most populous urban area as well as the capital of New Zealand.  It is the major population centre of the southern North Island, and is the administrative centre of the Wellington Region. Wellington's economy is primarily service-based, with an emphasis on finance, business services, and government. It is the centre of New Zealand's film and special effects industries, and increasingly a hub for information technology and innovation.

With our Wellington internship program, you will gain professional experience while being surrounded by natural beauty. In addition, Wellington is famous for its craft beer, delicious wine and general coffee culture. Referred to as the cultural capital, Wellington is your internship destination where you will never get bored!

2.Take a stroll along the scenic Viaduct Harbour – Relax with fine food and wine or a casual meal at one of Viaduct Harbour’s popular restaurants and bars, with the superyachts moored just metres away. Go jet boating, join a sailing charter or enjoy a relaxing harbour cruise.

Advice for Someone Considering Doing Internship in New Zealand

  1. No obligation for tipping – Restaurant workers are paid a fair minimum wage so diners aren’t obligated to leave a tip but a gratuity for good service will be appreciated. It’s not customary to tip taxi drivers but do tip hotel staff NZ$1-2 for each bag carried to your room and a leave a few dollars for the workers who clean your hotel room.
  2. Bring Light Clothes – the laid-back dress code makes it easy to pack to Auckland. Just ensure you bring layers for temperamental conditions, comfy shoes for walking and some wet-weather gear in case of rain.
  3. You can drink the tap water – The tap water is drinkable in Auckland and meets all the requirements of the New Zealand Drinking Water Standards.
