Is Working a 9 to 5 Still the Dream?
Getting a 9-to-5 job is often seen as a big achievement. It's something parents proudly tell the whole family "My child got a job!" But have you ever thought that this kind of routine can become boring? Today, the idea of sitting at a desk every weekday feels a bit outdated.
Gen Z is not just chasing a career. The trend of going back to the office (9 to 5) has created mixed reactions. Because of this, many Gen Z choose alternatives like remote internship or work, side hustle, part-time or freelance. This shows that our generation cares more about well-being, not just having a job. Instead of focusing only on climbing the corporate ladder, many of us dream of a lifestyle that brings purpose, flexibility, and joy.
The pandemic showed us that productivity doesn't only happen in an office. We can still work well when we have flexibility and space to be creative. For some people, a regular routine still works. For others, it means turning hobbies into income, volunteering, or even trying new activities like padel or Pilates that make life feel more meaningful.
But on the other side, some Gen Z also feel like the current economy is tough, so they think work-life balance is not a priority. As long as they have a job, that's enough for now. Meanwhile, others still believe that work-life balance is important for mental health. And honestly, both opinions are valid. Everyone has their own perspective.
