Your 5 Rainy Season in Indonesia Essentials
Rainy season in Indonesia has begun since last October 2018. According to Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), while rainy season in indonesia is forecast to begin differently in several regions in the country, the peak of the rainy season is forecast to begin in January-February 2019.
But don’t let the rain put you off. Though we’re in the peak of rainy season in Indonesia, it doesn’t mean all day drizzle or constant rains. Most of the time it’s dry in the mornings with a quick downpour in the afternoon that lasts for an hour or so. Then, as quickly as the rain came, the sun is back out and it’s dry again in no time.

However, there are several things that you need to pay attention in this rainy season, especially maintaining our health. Below are some “trivial” things people often forget to prepare during rainy season in Indonesia.
Bring plenty of mosquito repellent
Rainy season in Indonesia is also the season when many insects appear, especially mosquito. Mosquitos bites in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, can be itchier than in other countries. So, don’t forget to bring mosquito repellent or anti-itch cream. You may use a portable mosquito net to reduce the chance of contracting malaria or dengue and irritating bites
Wear lightweight clothing
Wear light, loose clothing to keep you cool in the hot and humid weather between storms and to help you dry off quickly after a downpour. Also, prepare to bring additional clothes in case you get soaked in the rain. Wear good soled shoes too as the rains can leave slippery surfaces and often flooded streets.

Be extra careful on the roads
Be careful on the roads – rain can lead to treacherous conditions, flooding or turn dirt roads into mud baths so take extra care. Try not to walk in flood water as it could carry dirt and disease or be hiding uneven surfaces or open holes.
Bring umbrella or rain coat
It may sound petty and can be useless if it’s not raining, but it’s better to prepare than get soaked in the rain, right? Nowadays, you can find folded-umbrella and compact rain coat easily in stores or minimarkets. It fits well in our bag so there’s no excuses not to bring one!

Prepare medicine
Make sure you have basic medicine for fever, cold, and influenza. Weather in rainy season can impact our body. The risk of developing the disease will be even greater. Eat nutritious food by regulating a healthy diet, regular exercise and enough rest to maintain the body's immunity.
