1. Spelling & Grammar Errors

A common and easily avoidable mistake is making spelling and grammar errors. These small errors can give the impression that you are careless and unprofessional. To prevent this, always review your CV carefully, and if needed, use tools like Grammarly or ask professionals to check it for you.

2. Too Long or Too Short 

A CV should be concise but informative. If it’s too long, recruiters may not read through it completely. If it’s too short, it may seem like you lack experience. Aim for 1-2 pages, ensuring all the information is relevant and well-structured.

3. No Relevant Experience 

Your CV should highlight experiences relevant to the internship you are applying for. If your past roles are not directly related, find ways to showcase transferable skills. For example, if you worked as a cashier and are applying for a marketing internship, mention how you engaged with customers, promoted products, or handled social media for the store.

4. Generic Description

Choose the right action verbs. Avoid generic descriptions as they fail to demonstrate your true value. Instead of saying you are hardworking or passionate, provide quantifiable achievements that prove your abilities.

5. Fancy Design

It is indeed pretty to have a CV with a fancy template and design, however, when you use such a template, there will be a limitation on the content of your CV. The space becomes more limited due to the design. Do not sacrifice your content just for the sake of fancy design.
